LCI-UK is a charitable membership organisation supporting research into and dissemination of lean construction principles and best practice with a view to improving public sector construction. Our aim is to provide those commissioning and delivering public works with the information necessary to make informed purchasing and delivery decisions for the public benefit.
Our criteria for assessing suitability of research topics are:
- Is the area of activity based on:
- Public sector buildings such as schools, hospitals, libraries etc or
- Public infrastructure such as roads or
- Social housing to meet a charitable need
- Does the research topic enable any of the following:
- Improved purchasing decisions
- Improved quality of public buildings or infrastructure
- Reduced cost of public works
- Ensure on time, within budget delivery of projects for public benefit
- Reduced disturbance to local communities and the wider public
- Reduce ‘waste' within the construction project
- Safer and healthier working practices
- Improved utility and function
Membership is open to individuals and academic institutions; clients, designers, contractors, sub-contractors, specialists, suppliers and interested members of the public.
