Lean Construction Institute UK is the trading name of LCI-UK Limited, a company limited by guarantee incorporated in 2005.
Our object is:
The promotion for the public benefit of research into Lean construction principles and best practice and the dissemination of the useful results thereof.
'Lean construction' means all designing, building, repair and maintenance activities over the life of a constructed facility.
The public benefit from lean construction includes the following:
• Improved quality of buildings and infrastructure
• Reduced cost of delivering those buildings and infrastructure
• Delivering buildings and infrastructure on time and within budget
• Improved safety performance on projects with a lean construction approach making it safer for the public as well as individuals working on those projects
• Reduced occupational health risks through ergonomic working practices.
• Reduced disturbance to local communities as a result of having the right materials and resources delivered at the right time to the right place
• Reducing waste in all its forms - financial, materials and so on
• Improving maintenance and repairs of public buildings providing a better environment for the users (i.e. a better learning environment in schools) and keeping costs down
• Better value for tax payers money
• Improved utility and function e.g. better patient recovery rates in hospitals through lean design
